Description
In this glass is the taste of a whole blossom and forest year on the Hongar mountain in the Attersee-Traunsee region!
This year we were able to harvest some hongar honey again: This is characterized by its dark amber color and its nutty, aromatic flavour. A delight for all those who love it full-bodied!
Why is drip honey a local alternative to manuka?
We cut the honeycombs out of their wooden frames and let them drip off slowly over a period of days without spinning or heating them. This exceptionally long contact time with the honeycomb is crucial: scientific studies* show that drip honeys can have a 40 to 100 times higher pollen content than average honeys as a result. (This is also the reason why our drip honey crystallizes into its natural cream form after just a few days and weeks)
In addition, fine propolis components as well as biologically active flavonoids and phenolic compounds are released during the drip honey harvest. This saturation with secondary plant substances is associated in the specialist literature with significantly increased antibacterial activity. The result is an authentic local alternative to imported manuka honey!

Notes
Store in a dry place, protected from light and heat.
Drip honey has a higher proportion of valuable ingredients such as pollen, propolis and wax, which is sometimes visible to the naked eye. Due to the higher pollen content, drip honey reacts somewhat more sensitively to unfavorable storage conditions: If in doubt, storage in the refrigerator is also possible.
Natural honey like ours crystallizes sooner or later. As a drip honey, it remains naturally creamy. If you like, you can add honey with max. 40 degrees liquefy again: Below 40 degrees, all valuable ingredients are retained.
HONGAR
The Hongar mountain lies between the Attersee and the Traunsee in the northern Salzkammergut (Austria). Our family has been associated with the first ridge of the Alpine foothills for generations. Against this background, it was also obvious for us to harvest our first site honey from the Hongar!
